Natural Orlu valley
From CE2 to CM2Program
Day 1: 11:00 am: Visit the Maison des Loups in Orlu
Visit the Maison des Loups in Orlu: come howl with the wolves….
Come and meet wolf packs in the heart of the wild frontier.
Discover wolves from Europe, Canada, the Arctic and Poland.
You’ll watch one of the wolf packs being fed, and learn more about the behavior and social life of these superb and much-maligned animals. The tour is self-guided, during which you’ll discover :
– the barefoot trail to feel the pulse of the earth!
– the sound station, where you can listen to fabulous tales of the wolf.
– themed trails (tracks, ornithological, botanical) for a closer look at the mountain environment.
On a semi-guided tour, you can pet and brush the animals at Monsieur Seguin’s educational farm, race the wolf and take part in the gold panning workshop.
Thanks to the vision tunnel, children can approach the animals in complete safety. They’ll experience a magical, privileged tête-à-tête with the wolves.
Optional: as a souvenir of this wonderful day, take home a wolf’s paw print!
A more detailed information sheet will be sent to you.
Packed lunch (not provided)
8:30 pm: Evening of your choice.
Day 2: Morning: Visit to Mountanéo, the water and mountain museum: a fun, immersive learning center.
And Workshop: Listening to the birds
All it takes is a bit of listening to realize the richness of the natural world around us. By listening carefully, we can gain a much better understanding of our environment.
After listening to and identifying a few birds indoors, we’ll head out into the forest to listen to and count the sounds of nature, just as the technicians at the Orlu National Game and Wildlife Reserve regularly do. By following a similar protocol, participants will become aware of the biodiversity that surrounds them whenever they’re outdoors.
For one hour, children will put themselves in the shoes of a nature reserve technician. They’ll have to identify different bird songs, authenticate them, and count them as an environmental professional would.
1pm – Packed lunch
2:00 pm: Orlu treasure hunt, combining education and fun around the activities that keep the valley alive (forges, hydroelectricity, wildlife reserve…). A map, a booklet, a touch of curiosity and an adventurous instinct, and off you go to explore the small Forges d’Orlu valley, dotted with clues and markers to find. (1 adult per group of 5, self-guided – location: around the observatory, on the trail).
