Winter - Summer
In winter
In the trunk of the car, there are absolutely:
chains adapted to the wheels of the vehicle, you will have checked before leaving! (with instructions), gloves (a pair!)
a plastic pocket for kneeling on the ground
a tea towel for wiping hands
a flashlight or better a headlamp!
And in the suitcase are:
a hat, a pair of gloves, suitable sunglasses…
a ski outfit,
a winter jacket,
the essential fleece suitable for everything,
after-skis or shoes for walking in the snow,
swimwear and towels for the Bains du Couloubret,
sunscreen cream, the little backpack to keep track of during activities,
the battery to recharge your mobile (for those whom the mountains won’t disconnect!)
In summer
In your suitcase, there’s:
a fleece: essential in case of chilly mornings or falling temperatures.
walking shoes.
shorts with lots of pockets (so you have everything to hand).
trousers that turn into shorts: admittedly, it’s not very stylish, but in the cool of the morning, you’ll appreciate the pants and as soon as you’ve started climbing, you’ll be happy to turn them into shorts!
socks to match the shoes (neither too short, nor too high).
a special hiking backpack
sunglasses with a very high protection factor (4)
a wide-brimmed hat (a cap doesn’t prevent sunburn on the back of the neck if the sun is on your back during the hike)
sun cream
a water bottle
a quick-drying swimsuit (so you can keep it on after a dip in a lake during the hike)
a microfiber towel for quick drying and minimum space requirements
a poncho, a Kway, waterproof clothing….
old-timers would add a whistle ….
