An untamed storytelling journey guides young and old through the life of Tistou, a child with green thumbs like no other.
The tale written by Maurice Druon, tells the story of a different kind of child, sensitive to the world's misfortunes and endowed with a magical power: to make flowers grow wherever he puts his thumbs. Living in a wealthy, happy family, Tistou is expelled from school because he "isn't like everyone else". His parents decide to send him to the "school of life". Thanks to his gift, he transforms prisons, hospitals and poor neighborhoods into places of beauty and hope. Through nature and kindness, he seeks to heal injustice and make the world a better place.
En Compagnie des Barbares was founded in 2010. It works on two main themes: language and memory. The company's shows are based both on non-theatrical literature and on stage writing based on Sarah Freynet's fictionalized testimonies.
