Wonderful Orlu Valley
From CP to CM2Program
Day 1:
11:00: Visit the Maison des Loups in Orlu
Visit the Maison des Loups in Orlu: come howl with the Wolves….
Come and meet wolf packs evolving in the middle of the forest in the heart of the wild frontier.
Discover wolves: from Europe, Canada, the Arctic and Poland.
You’ll attend a commented feeding of one of these packs, and learn more about the behavior and social life of these superb, much-maligned animals. The visit is free, during which you’ll discover:- the barefoot trail to feel the pulse of the earth!
– the sound station to listen to fabulous tales around the wolf.
– themed trails (tracks, ornithological, botanical) allowing an approach to the mountain environment.
On a semi-guided tour, you can pet and brush the animals on Monsieur Seguin’s educational farm, race the wolf and take part in the gold panning workshop.
Grace the vision tunnel, so children can get up close and personal, in complete safety. They’ll experience a magical, privileged tête-à-tête with the wolves.
Optional souvenir of this beautiful day, leave with the imprint of a wolf’s paw!
A more detailed sheet will be sent to you.
Pick-nick from the bag (not provided)
Evening: Evening of tales and legends from the Ariège.
2nd day : In matinee, jeu de piste d’Orlu which combines education and fun around the activities that keep the valley alive (forges, hydroelectricity, wildlife reserve…). A map, a booklet, a touch of curiosity and an adventurous instinct, and off you go to explore the small Forges d’Orlu valley, dotted with clues and markers to find. (1 adult per group of around 5, self-guided – location: around the observatory, on trail).
1pm – Packed picnic
The afternoon is devoted to “la rivière m’a dit ….“: a short stroll along the mountain river to discover this little-known yet vibrant ecosystem. L’observatoire de la montagne is the specialist in educational field discoveries involving observation, reflection and determination.
Hurry up the landing net, which, fresh from the Oriège, is wriggling with little aquatic insect larvae! A paintbrush and a magnifying glass are welcome to capture, observe and identify these beautiful creatures without harming them. The Oriège is a mountain stream teeming with life that will appeal to young and old alike, so rich is its fragility: a good opportunity to learn how to protect them.
