Le Teich park

The Thermal Park of Le Teich, shaded by hundred-year-old Sequoias, is the perfect place for a picnic or a moment of relaxation. A trail allows you to discover the different tree species: Spruce, Black Pine .... Come and discover the magnificent sculpture in the Parc du Teich. Here's its story: a giant sequoia in the park was ill, and it took several days to cut down this tree, which is over a hundred years old and has seen so many generations of Axéens pass through it. Part of the trunk was preserved and tested to see if it could be sculpted. In order to give it a second life, the Ax-les-Thermes town council called on Nicolas Dorange, initially a lumberjack and forester, to draw up his project for an Axéen Totem. It was a first for him to work with a sequoia tree. It took 22 days to complete this work of art, under a blazing sun, a few storms and the amazement of passers-by. Nicolas Dorange has left us a monumental work whose colors change according to the light of day.
