The Izourt disaster occurred on March 23, 1939. On that day, 31 workers, including 29 Italians, working on the construction of the Izourt dam (above Auzat) died in tragic circumstances due to extreme weather conditions. At the dawn of the Second World War, these dead were forgotten until 2003, when a few people wished to rehabilitate these victims and maintain the duty of remembrance.
