An exceptional natural site. From the Labinas waterfall to the rehabilitated village of Orris, the Soulcem valley, close to the borders of Andorra and Spain, offers an exceptional panorama from the dam.
This pastoral and natural area has seen the development of orris villages, testimony to a rich mountain life.
Man has used the Soulcem valley for thousands of years. Pastoralism began in the Neolithic period, at the same time as the destruction of the sparse forest that covered the flatter areas and was mainly made up of Scots and hooked pines.
Summer pastoralism, based around huts that took the form of orris (dry stone huts) from the end of the Middle Ages onwards, remained a very dynamic activity until the twentieth century.
In the 1980s, a dam was built on one of the former pastoral flats.
The departmental road leading to the Carla car park is now used as a grazing path and tourist access route for walkers and mountaineers.
