A day of exploration in the Rancié mines
Located in the heart of the Vicdessos valley, in Sem (Ariège), the Rancié mines are among the oldest known iron mines.
Open-cast mining began at the summit of the Ganchette peak in ancient times.

More than 2,000 years of iron history lie hidden in this unique site, bearing witness to the work of the miners and the importance of iron in local life.
