The program for this site:
Dating back to the 13th century, this was the most important castle in the County of Foix. However, the site has long been uninhabited (nearly 700 years), as evidenced by the remains of the surrounding walls and towers. The area surrounding the fortress, which dominates the Auzat-Vicdessos basin, is also worth exploring, in particular the caves and balsams in which paintings are the subject of mysticism linked to Catharism.
The site is currently undergoing archaeological excavation.
