Without artifice, in a bare voice, Olivier de Robert puts his talent as a storyteller at the service of an almost legendary character, choosing never to embody him but to bring him to life through the words and emotions of those who were "his" people.
In an anonymous bistro where the owner is desperately waiting for new customers, a few regulars talk about everything and nothing. Gradually, in their protests, cries, laughter and subdued emotions, the figure of Jaurès emerges: the companion of the humble, the miners' deputy, the protector of the little people... A miner, a glassmaker, a farmer and a schoolteacher recount their lives before and during Jaurès, until a poilu returning from the front reminds us that he was also the apostle of peace.
