The Ruisseau de l'Artigue cascades down its bed in impetuous waterfalls, or gently glides further along, offering welcoming banks where you can settle down for a cool rest. Follow its course, it's an ideal spot in the heat of summer.

August 19, 2026: Municipal ordinance issued by the town of Auzat prohibiting swimming in all mountain lakes and requiring that dogs be kept on a leash. Directions: Leave Vicdessos and head up the valley on the D8. As you leave Marc, take the D66 to the right toward l’Artigue. Find a spot in the parking lot without driving into the hamlet. During HIGH SEASON, the parking lot fills up very quickly; we recommend being mindful of where you park so as not to inconvenience local residents. If the parking lot is full, park further down the road with care—making sure not to block emergency vehicles—and walk to the trailhead!

(D/A) Leave the Artigue parking lot (1200m) and follow the path upstream along the Artigue stream. Very soon after climbing the mouillère, at the first fork in the road go left, leaving the Port de l'Artigue path. After a few hazelnut groves, the path climbs gently. At the Mamouly clearing, the path forks. On the left, it heads off into the Fontanal woods towards the Montcalm peak, then straight ahead towards the stream. The path then descends steeply, opening out well. At the grande vasque, after the confluence of the Ruisseau de l'Artigue and the Ruisseau de Bazur, head south-west to cross a landing.

0:35 - PASSERELLE. You've already come to the end of your walk, as upstream the footbridge that allowed you to make a loop along a now-abandoned path has been swept away.
