  • This fairly easy loop offers numerous viewpoints over two valleys, as well as beautiful views of Usson castle. The loop does have a fairly steep climb in the middle, but is still accessible to all if you take your time.

  • Road access: From Ax-les-Thermes, take the Col de Pailhères (check it's open) via the D25, then head for Mijanès. After the bridge, follow signs for Rouze, turning left at both intersections. In Rouze, park in the post office parking lot alongside the river.
  • Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
    (D/A) - From the parking lot, cross the bridge over La Bruyante, then walk up the main street, Rue de la Place, past the church. Continue along this road and cross the Pont Vauban parking lot to take the footpath
    towards Fount D'argent.

    50 min - After 2.5km, at the signpost, take the right-hand path down towards Fount d'Argent. Cross the pastoral fence and close it behind you. Follow the same direction at the next signpost and take the winding road. Turn right at the water pipe and go through a small tunnel.

    1h 40 - At a road, turn right and climb towards Rouze. 100 m after passing under a high-voltage power line, fork right onto a path. This leads to a new tarmac road, which you take uphill to the left to reach the Pont
    Vauban car park. Follow the path back to the starting point.

    2h15 - Post office parking lot.
