Concert Media Vita "Ensemble La Sportelle"

A classical music concert presented by the Fondation du Patrimoine to benefit the restoration of the Notre-Dame de Sabart Chapel in Tarascon-sur-Ariège. At the heart of this program, which explores the themes of death and hope, Kerensa Briggs’ *Media vita*—inspired by an 11th-century Gregorian antiphon—offers a deeply moving meditation on the fragility of life and the hope of salvation. Centered around this key piece, Owain Park brings together gems of early polyphony—Obrecht, Byrd, Victoria, Gesualdo—and works of profound beauty by Górecki, Łukaszewski, McDonald, McKevitt, and Pärt. This program weaves a vibrant dialogue between past and present, where each work becomes a stage in a sonic and spiritual journey of rare intensity, where music transcends time to touch the soul at its very core. The Ensemble la Sportelle embodies the unique spirit of Rocamadour by freely exploring centuries of sacred music. Through original programs, in pursuit of sensitivity and beauty, it brings music to life as a total experience, open to all. The Ensemble la Sportelle is supported by the Rocamadour - Sacred Music Foundation, under the auspices of the Heritage Foundation. This concert is part of a touring series aimed at supporting religious heritage through sacred music.
