7:00 p.m. - Science cocktail party co-organized by the Ariège Pyrenees Regional Nature Park
On this occasion, a team of researchers from the GEODE and TRACES laboratories (CNRS) will welcome you on Friday, July 3, at 2:00 p.m., at the Bernadouze peat bog parking lot, to show you how they reconstruct the history and development of forests. You’ll be able to observe how data is collected and discuss with the researchers what insights it provides into past dynamics, as well as the management decisions it can help inform.
The afternoon will be followed, at 7 p.m., by a “science cocktail hour” co-organized by the Ariège Pyrenees Regional Nature Park, at the André Maury Hall in Auzat. This evening will provide an opportunity to continue the discussions with a presentation on the history of the Vicdessos forests and an “uchronia” workshop to collectively imagine what the Ariège forests might have looked like.
This initiative is part of the Pyrenean Forests Living Lab, which aims to create a space for exchange between researchers, forestry stakeholders, and local communities to collectively discuss forestry issues and co-develop solutions based on concrete situations on the ground. This Living Lab is based on the premise that historical ecology can serve as a catalyst for renewing perspectives on forests and informing reflections on their future evolution.
